Privacy Policy

Weatherkind is built on a simple idea: a weather app should not be a data broker. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we use location and weather request data only to deliver weather for the places you ask about.

1. Who We Are

"Weatherkind" refers to Electric Pass Labs, LLC d/b/a Weatherkind, the developer of the Weatherkind weather application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy describes how the App handles information when you use it. If you have questions, contact us at hello@weatherkind.com.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following information locally on your device. This information is not synced to an account or used to track you:

• Saved locations: places you have added to the App.
• App preferences: units, theme, layout, units of measure, and similar settings.
• Recent forecasts and observations: cached so the App is fast and remains useful offline.
• Optional notes or annotations you create within the App.

You can clear this data at any time by deleting the App or, where supported by your platform, using the App's "Reset" function.

3. Location Information

If you grant the App permission to access your device's location, it is used solely to fetch weather data for where you are. Your location may be sent to servers we control as part of a weather request. The request may include latitude and longitude coordinates, a manually selected location, or a saved location you choose in the App.

You can revoke location permission at any time from your device settings. The App will continue to work using locations you have saved manually.

4. Information Processed by Our Servers

Weatherkind routes weather requests through servers we control. This lets us generate forecasts from weather model guidance, combine public weather data, protect API keys, improve reliability, and serve weather data to the App. When you request weather, our servers may process:

• Requested locations: coordinates, place names, or saved locations used to answer your weather request.
• Weather data: forecasts, radar, observations, alerts, historical weather, and similar provider responses for the requested location.
• Standard network metadata: information such as IP address, request time, device/browser headers, and similar data automatically transmitted when the App contacts our servers.

We use this information to provide the Service, cache and speed up weather responses, troubleshoot reliability issues, secure the Service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. We do not use it to track individual users, build advertising profiles, or sell location histories.

5. Forecast Generation and Public Data Sources

Weatherkind generates its own forecasts on servers we control by processing and blending numerical weather prediction guidance. That guidance includes HRRR, NBM, GFS, and GEFS data published by NOAA, as well as ECMWF model guidance. We retrieve these model datasets independently of individual App requests. These downloads do not include your requested location or other App request data.

For alerts, observations, air quality, radar, historical weather, and similar features, our servers may request data from government and public sources, including:

• api.weather.gov is the U.S. National Weather Service API, for alerts and observations in the United States.
• EPA AirNow for air-quality observations and outlooks.
• Other government and public meteorological sources for radar, historical and climate data, and environmental information.

When one of these features requires a location-based query, the source receives only the information needed to return the data, typically the coordinates or area being queried. Because requests are proxied through our servers, sources generally receive server-side network metadata rather than a direct request from your device. These sources operate under their own privacy practices, which we encourage you to review. We do not control what they log or how they use information they receive.

6. What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not share data with advertisers or advertising networks.
• We do not run third-party trackers or SDKs for advertising or behavioral analytics inside the App.
• We do not require an account to use core features.
• We do not build a profile of you based on your use of the App.
• We do not use weather requests to infer where you live, work, worship, receive care, or spend time.

7. Crash Reports and App Store Analytics

The platform you installed the App from (such as the Apple App Store or Google Play) may collect aggregate, anonymized data about app installs, crashes, and usage as part of its own services. This is governed by the platform's privacy policy and is independent of the App. We may review aggregated, non-identifying crash and diagnostic information made available by the platform to fix bugs and improve stability.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App does not require an account. Location-based weather requests are used only to provide weather for the requested place.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect the Service. Network requests between the App, our servers, and public weather data sources are made over encrypted HTTPS connections wherever supported. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA, or similar regulations. You can view, modify, or delete locally stored App data within the App, or by uninstalling it. Because Weatherkind does not require accounts or maintain user profiles, we may not be able to identify server-side request records as belonging to a specific person. 11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted within the App or on our website.
